SAFC Hitech is one of four business segments within SAFC and focuses on providing custom manufacturing and associated services to high technology and performance materials industries. SAFC (a division of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation), custom manufactures a broad spectrum of over 86,000 fine chemicals and has access to over 10,000 suppliers for its raw materials.

The SAFC Hitech sector has over 200 chemical R&D and manufacturing experts dedicated to ensuring that high-purity materials meet the quality and service standards demanded by the fast changing silicon semiconductor, compound semiconductor and performance chemicals markets.

To greater serve the silicon semiconductor and compound semiconductor markets, Sigma-Aldrich recently acquired Epichem, Limited of the U.K. for its SAFC Hitech business segment. The combined entity joins Epichem’s unique understanding of advanced chemistries for the silicon and compound semiconductor markets with SAFC’s extensive understanding of manufacturing production-scale high-purity chemicals, its global supply chain infrastructure and its financial strength.

SAFC Hitech offers its customers access to chemicals expertise, close collaboration on the development of new materials and process integration schemes, and the ability to quickly scale-up to volume production levels. The unique business model accelerates technology progression and time-to-market, giving SAFC Hitech a strong competitive edge in serving the semiconductor industry.

In performance chemicals, SAFC's legacy business, R&D expertise and large-scale manufacturing capabilities enable the company to meet the needs of numerous commercial segments, including telecommunications, fuel cells, medical imaging, radiation detection and others. Proprietary technology are applied to produce high-purity inorganics and metals in gram to metric ton quantities to meet demanding purity standards in the range of 99.99% to 99.9999+% trace element basis.
