Cell Design Studio

SAFC Custom Cell Engineering ServicesSAFC® recognizes the need for biopharmaceutical customers to create robust, efficient cell lines — often a time-consuming and costly endeavor. More efficient cell lines can significantly reduce production costs. Outsourcing the engineering of production cell lines allows biopharmaceutical companies to focus their R&D efforts on developing new therapeutics.

The Cell Design Studio team is familiar with the needs and concerns specific to biopharmaceutical customers. This service includes:
Project management support from inquiry to project completion
Documentation of cell handling and full traceability of raw materials

Service offering specific to biopharmaceutical customers:
Engineering of production cell lines using Zinc Finger Nucleases (ZFNs)
Identification of integration sites of recombinant genes in CHO cells for evaluation as "hot spots"
Design and application of custom shRNAs to validate potential engineering targets in production cell lines

Examples of potential cell engineering projects include:
Creating new CHO parental lines with increased culture longevity or engineering metabolic selection systems to increase productivity
Improving therapeutic efficacy by altering glycosylation pathways
Removing endogenous proteins to simplify downstream purification
Eliminate viral components in host cell
Targeted integration of recombinant genes into "hot spots"
Sequencing of CHO genes to facilitate ZFN design
Development of production cell lines using SAFC platform cell lines and expression systems
New CHOZN® ZFN-Modified CHO Cell Lines
SAFC is proud to offer a newly created series of zinc finger nuclease (ZFN) modified CHO cell lines with characteristics that are attractive in a platform cell line to biopharmaceutical developers and manufacturers. Learn more here about these novel cell lines and find out how they can you take your molecule to clinic faster.
