Spent Media Analysis

SAFC® offers a battery of complementary test for nutrient analysis designed to monitor cell growth and provide valuable information and support cell and media optimization studies. We can provide data within fifteen business days. Results provided in the report referenced herein are not intended for regulatory submission purposes.
 
Free Amino Acids (HPLC)
Includes 20 amino acids commonly found in culture media
 
Lipid/Fatty Acids (GC)
Lipid classes quantified include phospholipids, free fatty acids, triglycerides, cholesterol esters, and total protein.
 
Water-Soluble Vitamin Analysis (HPLC)
Vitamin analysis includes the B1 through B12
 
Standard Elements (ICP)
Includes CA, Mg, Mn. P, K, and S
 
Trace Elements (ICP)
Includes 15 trace elements commonly found in culture media
 
Cholesterol (HPLC)
Cholesterol is a critical nutrient utilized during cell growth
 
Glucose (Hexokinase)
This component is a primary indicator of culture kinetics

Sample Preparation
  • Spin down cells
  • Sterile filter through 0.2 micron filter
  • Transfer media into 5 mL containers
  • Label with company name, date, experiment name, and culture time point 
  • Freeze at -20◦C and send frozen (overnight with dry ice) to the attention of: "Analytical Testing, Bioservices"
